Stray kitten becomes rescuer’s soul cat after being saved from Toronto garbage dump with a surprise litter of cat babies waiting to be born, cat mom says: ‘We have bonded beyond what I ever expected and I am madly in love with all of them.’

Sometimes you have to dig through the world's trash in order to find your treasure. At least that is what happened to the cat lover in this story who saved the cat that would go on to light up her life, along with her kittens.

We often remark that you never truly know what you are going to get yourself into when you dive into a cat rescue. All you know is that there is a cat in peril, or in bad shape, who needs your help. There is no time to wonder what might happen down the road, because any time wasted can mean the difference between a life of happiness or not.

Which is why we are so delighted when we get to share stories such as this one in which everyone does their part so well and with such good intentions that everything goes sweetly and smoothly. So much so in fact that the rescued kitty's vision problems and her surprise litter of kittens are barely an issue amongst all the love and appreciation shared between this once stray feline and her new hooman. Proof that when love is put at the centre of everything, there is nothing that cannot be overcome.

  • We are never not amazed by the incredible kindness of strangers when it comes to cats in peril. Especially in cases where those involved in helping the catto in question are so devoted to helping that they would even take an incoming storm into consideration. In a world where so much goes wrong and so often, it is utterly heartwarming to know that kind and caring cat lovers like this exist and are in positions to affect real change in these cats’ lives. Not everyone would have had the heart and cared to spare the time to capture the cold catto ahead of the rescuer’s arrival like that.

  • Well, while that is quite the news to be hit with so early on in the story. Picking up a stray off the street is enough of a weight to add to one’s life, let alone having a litter of kittens stacked on top of that. But as the saying goes - in for a penny, in for a pound, and this cat rescuer would not let a little surprise like that stop her from giving this cat momma the love and protection that she deserved to have. A truly heartwarming development considering just how many of the rescue stories we come across here are based around cats being dumped because they are pregnant.
